February ‘25 Committee Meeting Update
Dear Members,
Last Monday 17th, your Committee convened the February Committee Meeting. Here is a brief summary of that Meeting:
Invited Guest from Adelaide Rally - Mr Tim Possingham
We were honoured to have Tim Possingham join us to discuss the 2024 recent event and future of the Adelaide Rally.
Tim spoke very openly about the balance of competition vs tour cars, and the economics of the event. We discussed the challenges associated with running his event under Motorsport Australia, noting that this is now the only tarmac rally in Australia run under MA regulations which is seen as a contributor to low competitive entries in 2024. Tim did note there appeared to be some confusion around requirements to compete, and this is something TRCAA will work on during 2025 to help make clearer for competitors.
Tim spoke about his primary objective to run safe events with no significant incidents, and described how that affected the choice of rally roads and stage lengths. Pleasingly, his approach had very few incidents occur in 2024 with no injuries occurring.
Targa Tasmania Coronial Inquest Update
TRCAA continues to monitor the progress of the Coronial Inquest, but there have been no developments in the last month.
TRCAA Strategic Plan and 2025 Goals
The Committee has begun work on a new Strategic Plan for TRCAA, along with a new set of Strategic Goals.
As before, the Committee will aim to have a Draft document for Member review in the first quarter of 2025.
SEEKING YOUR FEEDBACK: As we look to the future, we are seeking Member feedback on what our direction and goals should be, so please send through your thoughts via a reply to this email, so we can include them in our strategic discussions.
Membership Update - Expired Members
The Committee is working hard to engage with expired TRCAA Members to encourage them to rejoin and support us to support your sport.
It is critically important to retain and grow our numbers, because your Membership gives TRCAA weight and credibility to be at the table and influence the Coronial Inquest, the event providers and the sanctioning bodies to keep our sport alive and worthwhile.
If any of your friends or associates have let their membership lapse, please encourage them to rejoin.
Financial Update
TRCAA Treasurer David Cooper provided an update on TRCAA financials to the Committee.
Tarmac Rally Events for 2025:
In a new initiative, TRCAA will provide a summary of upcoming events each month to members as there is a misconception going around that there are no tarmac rallies happening now. The list below of proposed Tarmac Rally events and dates for the rest of 2025 shows this is definitely not the case! We encourage all our Members to support these great events and to register to compete:

Next meeting
The Committee’s next meeting will be held on Monday 17 March 2025, where we hope to discuss the Coronial Inquest although we note that timing of hand down of the Coroner’s report is not known so this may not be possible.
As always, we thank you for your membership and continued support and interest in TRCAA.
Kind regards,
Kristian Downing
